Every day, the Lord stretches His hand open to His people, yet many receive without acknowledging the giver.
The Lord is mighty in His splendor and faithful in His loving kindness towards us. He
delights in pouring out blessings and witnessing the joy on our faces as we unwrap the presents He generously bestows upon us.
However, we often get caught up in momentous occasions, and the Lord goes unrecognized for His deeds. It is our responsibility to acknowledge the blesser. Just as our hearts are sometimes saddened, our Heavenly Father is similarly affected by our actions. In those times, His heart weeps for us, desiring to bless us, but observing that some can’t handle it. As doors open and blessings flow, some believe it’s all about them, forgetting Him. He weeps to see our sufferings and urges us to stand firm, help each other, and maintain thanksgiving in our hearts. He is a God of love and compassion, holding great blessings for each one of us.
When God blesses us, gratitude should flow, and as we praise Him, the windows of Heaven open, releasing more blessings. The earth becomes saturated with various blessings. Lack of thanks leads to a drought in praises reaching His nostrils, and blessings are not perceived as they should be. The secret to reaching Him is to praise Him with gladness and a thankful heart. As we begin to praise Him, His hand becomes even more evident. Giving thanks is not just a convenience or a handout; it’s a priority and a necessity. Many seek God only in disasters or when needs arise, but let us seek Him always with thanksgiving as His children. He expects nothing less from us.
Reflecting on Psalmist David, we find a true inspiration in honoring God with thanksgiving and praise. Regardless of his circumstances, he consistently gave God thanks with his heart, not just his mouth. David honored God with the fruit of his lips, glorifying Him in wondrous splendor and majesty.
David was a recipient of God’s great and wonderful blessing. He knew how to express gratitude for God’s blessings, never taking anything for granted. He turned mourning into dancing and thanksgiving. Like David, we should praise God with thanksgiving. Failing to give thanks goes against God’s revealed will for us. It is God’s will that we give thanks through Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
As Apostle Paul stated in 2 Corinthians 9:15, “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” This gift is Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Thanksgiving must be the lifestyle of every believer. With thanksgiving, the enemy has no power over us; without it, we face great destruction. In life’s challenges, reflect upon the greatest gift—life—and give thanks, sharing His goodness with others. The word of God says, “Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what He has done. Sing to Him; yes, sing His praises. Tell everyone about His miracles” (1 Chronicles 16:8-9).
