Do The Jingle

There is a very popular commercial that involves two gentlemen sitting in a car eating and chilling out, when all of a sudden their vehicle gets attacked by a huge American buffalo! Without hesitation, one friend tells the other to, “do the jingle.” Once he does, his insurance agent shows up and tells him to do the jingle again, but he added three more words, “In my office.” In a flash, they were transported to the safety of the insurance agent’s office, and realized that the coast was clear. They then share a friendly fist bump. The insurance agent didn’t give them a lecture about the dangers of being where they were, he just had a smile on his face because he was able to come to their aid.

FUN Facts to Consider:

  • They were someplace where they had NO business being!
  • They were confident that they were safe in a place surrounded with eminent danger!
  • When danger struck, they knew exactly WHO to call on for help!
  • The agent’s addition to the distress call made their cry for help more effective!
  • They ended up in a place of safety, without the rescuer asking, “What were you thinking? Are you crazy? What do you have on?” They ended up in a warm office, wearing big winter jackets, but THEY WERE NOT CONDEMNED!
  • Rather than dwelling on where they were moments ago, the gentlemen shared a fist bump to celebrate where they’ve been placed!

In Relation to Kingdom Life

FAITH Facts to Consider:

  • We’ve all been in a place in our lives where we were at the wrong place at the wrong time!
  • There was a point where we thought we were safe from the dangers of sin, and were confident that we were untouchable.
  • When we realized we were in danger, surrounded by sin and death, we had no choice but to call on the Lord to come to our rescue!
  • The Holy Spirit then assisted us in our distress call. Not by saying, “In my office,” but by saying, “In the name of Jesus,” our cries touched the heart of God!
  • Once our Father is attentive to our cries for His help, He will place us in a state of rest and reassurance free from CONDEMNATION. Seeing that we had enough faith to call on Him, He will not throw our current state of being up in our faces like man would. Instead, He will offer shelter from the storms of life.
  • After being rescued, rather than throwing a pity party about how worse off we were, we need to embrace each other and celebrate our deliverance to where we are now!

See the connections? The Lord will come to our aid and our sins are wiped away. We will become justified through our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and he will NOT hold our past sins over our heads!

Challenge:

  • This call to action is quite simple. If you are in distress, cry out to the Lord without restraint, knowing that He is not looking for lengthy words, but heart piercing words. In the commercial, they only said nine words and they were set free from their state of distress. We can use only nine words as well. “FATHER, IN THE NAME OF JESUS, PLEASE SAVE ME!”
  • If you have already been set free from some crazy situations that you thought were unshakable, your nine word jingle is simple but will touch the heart of God. “FATHER, IN JESUS’ NAME, THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME!”

Either way, we will realize that our heavenly Father is more than just a “Good Neighbor.”

Blessings to you in Jesus’ name.
